Media Literacy
Hello reader(s), this blog is about media literacy:
A way of looking critically at the media:
•Description - What do you see? Literal good vs evil type stuff
•Analysis - Patterns? Lying by omission and otherwise, taking things for granted, burying facts, rewriting history, predatory exploitation of human negligence, etc.
•Interpretation - What does it mean? So what? Explores the ideas of what side of history we will be on, who we really are, what type of characters we have, what type of choices we are making, and what we value as humans and humanity. Our media shows us a reflection of ourselves and our values as individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities, societies, states, nations, continents, and a whole human race. What kind of a people are we? From the perspective of the rest of the universe, where do we stand? Are we friend or foe? Are we beautiful or ugly? Are we amicable or dangerous? How intelligent are we really?
•Evaluation - Good or bad? Without an objective morality, is there a true good or bad? How do we decide, and who decides? What is stopping people from imposing their good upon others' bad and vice versa?
•Engagement - Do something about it: Think about objective morality vs subjective morality. Think about facts vs opinions. How do we not give in to the temptation of using knowledge as a weapon but instead as a tool for progress and success?
